The use of AI and data to enhance and simplify Logistics Management

AI not only has a wide range of applications in our daily lives, but it has also become the most useful tool to drive many businesses in diverse industries, including logistics. Logistics is one of the fields AI offers tremendous value to, for the more effective logistics management that can change how companies operate. In this article, you will be exposed to the different applications AI used to increase the flexibility and maximize efficiency of logistics management.

Logistics management requires fast, accurate, and safety in which efficiency in operation is something business operators mostly look for. However, the use of manpower alone would not fulfill the management efficiency in terms of time and accuracy for the least number of mistakes. Therefore, AI plays a vital role in helping manage logistics in a comprehensive way, including, Palletizing, to load and move around different kinds of products in different sizes with various weights by using robotic palletizers that can work in a timely manner and operate 24 hours a day. The next thing is Delivery Optimization, the use of AI to categorize each of the similar product categories for delivery. An algorithm is used to analyze the number of goods to be loaded onto the freight vehicle and help choose the most suitable vehicle for each type of delivery product. Moreover, it will also select the best route for the delivery to help improve safety and reduce delays caused by unfavorable conditions. The GPS tracking device is also installed on the vehicles, cargo, or drivers to make deliveries trackable and safe. In the event that the operators do not have their own freight vehicles, AI can help choose a carrier to suit each type of delivery from the analysis of product characteristics to reduce the choice of vehicle types to make it easier for the operators to decide, in order to avoid unnecessary transportation costs. Next, Predictive Maintenance will help prevent damage by alerting the status of the Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) and the equipment used during the conveying of goods to make repairs in a timely manner. Risk Assessment System, when there are signs of accidents that could lead to severe damage within the warehouse, whether to the operational staff or during work progress, the Computer Vision (CV) will work its best to process the images and video from surveillance cameras to inspect the overall work areas for the safety of the operation. Lastly, Facial Recognition is widely used in the work areas to identify the staff operating in - out of the area, as it is a discreet way to improve the security of the property and protect the facilities in the warehouse from being misused.

All of these benefits of AI can clarify why many operators choose to embrace and implement this powerful technology into their everyday operations in logistics. In addition to directly helping operators to analyze complex data and make fast and accurate decisions, AI also helps to reduce unnecessary manpower and human errors, resulting in a decreased risk of accidents and unexpected losses, and increasing the flexibility of management that is completely different from what you expected.
